AAUW Buffalo Branch Scholarships

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers a variety of scholarship and low-interest loan opportunities for both women and men, undergraduate and graduate students. 

Scholarship Deadline: February 19, 2025

Loan Deadlines: May 1st, December 1st

 

American Indian Services Scholarship (AIS)  

  • Available to full time undergraduate students
  • Must be at least ¼ enrolled member of a federally recognized Native American Tribe
  • Min 2.5 GPA

     

ASQ Buffalo 2025 Scholarship

Complete application to be considered.

Scholarship amounts will be between $500-$2000

Deadline: September 30, 2025

 

Chairish “Design Your Future” Scholarship Program

$2500 scholarship

Successful applicants must:

  • Have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Be a permanent legal resident residing within the US
  • Submit essay

Deadline: January 1st and June 30th

 

Hands Healing Heroes College Student of a Veteran Scholarship

Recipient must be:

  • Freshman, sophomore, or junior during the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Child of a veteran 
  • Submit essay of 500-700 words describing their perspective of their parent or parent’s service in the US military and how that has personally influenced their lives.

Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) Scholarships | Including EXCELSIOR

NYS Scholarships are awarded based on various factors. Some may require certain conditions to be met or have a service component.

 

Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program

SMART scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends, internships, mentorship, and opportunities for research funding. After graduation, they have the opportunity to begin their civilian career with the Department of Defense working as nonmilitary government employees solving complex national security challenges in their fields.  

  • Be a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or United Kingdom
  • Be 18 years of age or older by January 1, 2027
  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be currently pursuing, or intend to pursue in fall 2026, a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in a SMART STEM discipline*
  • Planning to attend, or enrolled in, a regionally accredited U.S. college or university
  • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance**
  • Be requesting between 1-5 years of degree funding. Degree funding will start in August 2026
  • Complete summer internships for awards greater than 1.5 years
  • Accept a one-for-one post graduation service commitment as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense

TeachNY Classic Scholarship

Successful applicants must:

  • Apply to participating teaching program
  • Submit the application with proof of application by the deadline
  • TeachNY can also reimburse up to $100 for expenses such as
    • Application fees
    • Transcript fees
    • Public transportation to and from interviews and/or testing
    • Testing fees
    • Test prep materials
    • Program deposits

Community foundations exist to manage charitable trusts to distribute funds to their respective communities, often in the form of scholarships.
