Loan Consolidation
A Direct Consolidation Loan Program is available that allows you to consolidate your eligible federal education loans into one loan. Consolidation allows you to extend the period of time that you have to repay your loans, and to combine several loan debts into a single monthly payment. However, you will pay more interest if you extend your repayment period through consolidation, since you will be making payments for a longer period of time. If your TEACH Grant is converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan, it may be consolidated into a Direct Consolidation Loan. Contact your Federal Loan servicer for more information about loan consolidation.

The U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Ombudsman can help resolve problems related to student loans (including TEACH Grants that have been converted to Direct Unsubsidized Loans) when other approaches have failed. It is important to keep all of your TEACH Grant papers and correspondence for your records. You should contact your TEACH Grant servicer or Federal Loan servicer first to try and resolve the problem.
