Students' eligibility for federal and state financial aid depends on several factors, including the type of program for which they are enrolled. This page provides a high-level overview of which aid programs are available for the following types of degree and certificate programs:
♦ Bachelor's Degrees | ♦ Undergraduate Certificates | ♦ Graduate Pre-Majors |
♦ Master's Degrees | ♦ Graduate Certificates | ♦ Non-Matricuated |
Students enrolled in bachelor's degree programs may qualify for the following federal and state aid programs:
Declared Major: Students must be enrolled in a declared major once they reach 60 earned credit hours. Students in an undeclared major with 60 or more credits are not eligible for federal or state aid.
If a student is admitted to a graduate pre-major because their undergraduate gpa is below the admission standard, they are not eligible for any federal or state aid.
Students admitted into a graduate pre-major may qualify for federal aid if they were admitted into the pre-major status to complete prerequisite courses. The financial aid office will consult with the graduate school to determine if the student qualifies as a pre-major. Students may receive the following aid types.
Undergraduate Prerequisites (limited to 12 months of continuous enrollment):
Graduate Prerequisites (limited to 2 courses; must be taken in same semester to qualify for federal loans):
FAFSA: Students in a gradaute pre-major status should complete the FAFSA as a 5th year undergraduate student. Students should report they are not working on a master's degree.
Students in a non-matriculated degree program (graduate or undergraduate) are ineligible for federal and state aid.
