Banner is the student information system used by SUNY Buffalo State. Banner is the central location where students register for classes, accept financial aid, view financial aid requirements, view hold on account, and pay their bill. Therefore, it is critical that students monitor Banner on a regular basis.
"Requirements" are actions that you must take before your aid eligibility can be determined and/or finalized. Requirements are displayed in Banner under "Eligibility Requirements".
To maintain eligibility for financial aid, students must meet minimum academic standards. Students are measured against the standard after each semester and their status is recorded in Banner. To view your status, refer to the pdf, Review Satisfactory Academic Progress Status.
To view your Financial Aid Award Letter in Banner, log in to Banner and then choose Financial Aid » Award » Award by Aid Year » Accept Award Offer » Print SUNY Award Letter PDF.
The video below explains how to interpret the award letter and how to estimate your out-of-pocket costs.
Students need to accept, reduce, or decline some types of financial aid, like loans or work-study. Students complete this by logging in to Banner > select Financial Aid > Award > Award for Aid Year > Select Award Year > Select the third tab, Accept Award Offer.
A step-by-step guide is also available.
Once all your financial aid requirements are completed, be sure to review the help page for your next steps.
